Visite du patrimoine de l’UNESCO : Banská Štiavnica

This little medieval town attracts tourists with its treasures and unforgettable atmosphere. Having belonged to the UNESCO World Heritage Sites for more than 20 years, Stiavnica is filled with a rich history of mining gold and silver, a complex of amazing tajchs (artificial water reservoirs), famous calvary (a symbol of belief ), and stylish coffee shops full of friendly people.

After we pick you up in your hotel, we will start a journey into the heart of Slovakia. The district of Stiavnica became the object of intense interest in the middle ages. In brief document sources it is called as the territory of miners! The mine excursion offers viewing of historical mining objects (architecture and machines), as well as possibility to see and actually enter a former medieval historical mine. Follow the underground path, through old galleries, where silver and gold were exploited.Finished with mine? Keep going! Your next stop will be the building complex of the Old Castle which includes also the Chapel of St. Michael and one of the most elegant architectural dominants of the town – New Castle. It stands as the guard near the entrance to Banska Stiavnica.
