With a population of 45.000 inhabitants, Alesund is one of the most important fishing harbours in Norway. A devastating fire in 1904 destroyed most of the old wooden buildings, after which the town was completely rebuilt on the initiative of Kaiser Wilhelm of Germany. As a result, Ålesunds architecture is unusually consistent and has a unique concentration of Art Nouveau – Jugendstyle.

Alesund is a functioning city and weather, traffic and events may occasionally cause disruption.
Our buses operate when cruise ships are docked in the port during the summer season, from early May until late September. Our red sightseeing buses are easy to recognize and will be present by the cruise ship terminal when your ship arrives in Ålesund. The last tour of the day will arrive back at the cruise ship terminal approximately 1 hour before ship departure.
Choose between two audio guide options: In-Seat Modules and Bring Your Own Device (BYOD). Borrowable headsets with adapters are available on board. Don’t forget to bring your headset for your own device if you want to use the BYOD audio guide option.
