Overview
A visit to the Lake District is an unmissable experience while in Milan. You will see the fashionable town of Stresa where you can browse the local shops for souvenirs and afterwards enjoy the stunning scenery of the area gliding along Lake Maggiore on a two-hour panoramic cruise.
Travel from Milan to the quaint town of Stresa and explore, try some local cuisine or indulge in some shopping before taking a stunning lake cruise.
You will pass the exotic Isola Madre, home to a 20-acre park that is considered one of the most impressive in Italy, before heading back in time to the simple life of Isola dei Pescatori where you will have free time to explore, shop or enjoy a light lunch. The next stop will be the luxurious Isola Bella with the elaborate gardens of the Borromean Palace (not included) surrounded by boutiques and cafés housed in grand historic buildings.
Finally, you will re-join the boat and cruise back to Stresa and depart by bus for Milan, stopping at the huge statue of San Carlo Borromeo in Arona. This massive bronze statue, erected between 1614 and 1698, was built on a hill overlooking the lake to celebrate the former archbishop of Milan.
