David: One of the most famous sculptures in the world, Michelangelo's David stands 15.7 metres (17 feet) tall. This marble statue used to sit in one of Florence's public squares, before it was moved into the gallery in the late 1800's to protect it from the weather.
Slaves: Originally meant to be part of Pope Julius' tomb, these unfinished sculptures are four of six figures. Called Awakening Slave, Young Slave, Atlas Slave, and Bearded Slave, the sculptures are all unfinished in various degrees, some missing a head or an arm, some just torsos and legs straining to break free from the rock. Enjoy the recorded commentary in various languages.
Madonna of the Sea: This panel painting by Botticelli is one of many of his depictions of the Madonna. It was painted in the late 1400's, and is thought to be part of a triptych, or series of three paintings, of the Madonna.
