You will visit the archaeological Hili tombs dating back to 5000 years and surrounded by marvelous botanical gardens. Get a glimpse into the history and culture of the Bedouins at the largest museum of the Emirates, Al Ain Museum. Wander down the traditional camel market that lends the town a special rustic atmosphere. Al Ain is a fantasy of greenery and flowers in the middle of the golden dessert!
You will be picked up in an air-conditioned coach from your hotel in Abu Dhabi and taken on a tour of Al Ain, an oasis and former caravan stop built on a huge fertile plain. A English/ German speaking guide will accompany you on this tour. Al Ain is about 100 kilometres from Abu Dhabi.
Al Ain is a garden city and the second largest in the emirate of Abu Dhabi. Having a history dating back to the 4th millennium BC. Al Ain is one of the agricultural centers of the Emirates and also a university city and the birthplace of the first President of the U.A.E.
Start with a visit to the Hili Tombs. These are circular in shape and built of stone. The dead were buried in these chambers together with objects and personal items. The archaeological objects uncovered during the excavations of Hili tombs date to the 4th millennium BC. The tomb is surrounded by a marvellous botanical garden.
We will visit the largest museum of the Emirates Al Ain Palace Museum, the residence of the late ruler Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan. Interesting displays, including collection of family portraits offer an insight into the way the royal family lived and entertained their guests. The museum is divided into two categories: Ethnographical and Archaeological. The Ethnographical section contains artefacts such as traditional garments household items and utensils, and gold and silver jewellery that reflect the customs and traditions of the Bedouin people of the region. The Archaeological section displays finds from discoveries made throughout the Emirates from the past three decades.
Along the way, stop for lunch at a local restaurant. Further on, proceed to the traditional camel market which gives the town a special rustic atmosphere.
After exploring the vibrant camel market of Al Ain, you will be dropped back to your hotel in Abu Dhabi.
