Christopher Columbus discovered America in search of India and held a special place in Barcelona, where he had arrived after his discovery. To commemorate his arrival, a statue was built in 1888 that stands atop a column in Rambla.
You can climb to the top of this statue as elevators will take you to the observatory, 60 meters above ground level. Enjoy spectacular 360-degree views of the city from the observatory. Get up, close to the Columbus statue dominating the sky holding a navigational chart in his left hand, and pointing towards the sea with his right.
