    Palace of Holyroodhouse - Important Information

    • Don't forget to carry a valid Student ID proof if you have booked a Student Ticket for Holyroodhouse, - you'll be required to show it at the entrance.

    • As the Palace of Holyroodhouse is a working royal palace, sometimes closures can happen at short notice.

    • The Palace is completely closed on April 10, May 12-23, June 24 - July 4 & December 25-26.

    • The Palace of Holyroodhouse is largely accessible, with some restrictions.

    If you are travelling by a cruise to join the hop-on, hop-off bus, you might want to keep the following details in mind:

    • You will need alternative methods of transportation to reach Stop Number 1 - Waverley Place.

    • Don’t forget to check the exact location of Edinburgh port before you arrive.

    • If you are coming into Leith, you can take a shuttle from the terminal to Waterloo Place, which is an approximately 6-minute walk from Stop Number 1.

    • If you are coming into South Queensferry (Hounds Point), you can take a shuttle from the terminal to Charlotte Square, which is an approximately 10-minutes walk from Stop Number 2.

    • Finally, if you are coming into Newhaven, you can take a local bus to central Edinburgh which will take you approximately 30 minutes.
