Muir Woods National Park and Sausalito with Optional Return Ferry to San Francisco from Sausalito:
This wonderful half day trip from San Francisco combines a visit to the ancient grove of towering redwoods with a visit to the charming coastal town of Sausalito, and if you wish, a bay cruise.
Visit Muir Woods National Forest, one of the last remaining stands of Coast Redwoods. Among nature’s grandest creations, the sky-piercing giants in this forest can grow to almost 260 feet and live for more than 1,000 years. Walk through the cool green trails and gaze up at the towering trees. Many of them will be around 45 times as tall as you are!
Travel to the seaside town of Sausalito, where hillsides grade gracefully to an attractive shoreline and the breathtaking Golden Gate Bridge takes shape in the distance. Cliff-hanging cottages and luxurious houseboats give Sausalito a Mediterranean flavor, but the art galleries, shops and inhabitants have an unmistakably Californian character.
If a one-hour stop in Sausalito isn’t enough for you, enjoy an optional ferry ride back to San Francisco at your leisure. The Ferry passes Alcatraz Island and offers spectacular views of the San Francisco skyline. The Ferry docks at Pier 41, in the heart of Fisherman’s Wharf.

The bay cruise is only available with morning departures.
The Bay Cruise offers free boarding without reserved time. Please visit https://www.blueandgoldfleet.com/sausalito/ and pick the best departure time for you. Cruises typically depart every 30 minutes to 1 hour.
The National Parks are restricting access to Muir Woods National Monument. Departure times for Muir Woods can vary from day to day depending on our parking assignments. Please contact us 72 hours prior to the travel date to confirm your exact departure time.
