3-Day Lake District Guided Tour from Edinburgh

Depart from Edinburgh in a comfortable Mercedes mini coach to kick start your tour!

Journey southward through the Scottish Borders and make your way to the first stop of the day – the Victorian spa town of Moffat. On the way there, enjoy the gorgeous rolling expanses and wonderful sights of the Galloway Hills and Southern Uplands!
Continue onward and cross into England over the border and head to Penrith. Explore the historic Cumbrian market town, the imposing ruins of Penrith Castle and later tuck into a delicious lunch (at own expense) at a local establishment. Learn all about the historic significance of Pernith castle from your expert guide and learn of the important role it played in defending the border against invading Scots.
Post lunch, make your way to the Lake District National Park and travel along the northern shores of Ullswater, often described as England’s most beautiful lake. Take a forest walk around the area and behold the majestic Aira Force waterfall!
Travel further towards Keswick and seethe mysterious Castlerigg standing stones that is thought to have once been a site for ancient pagan rules built over 5,000 years! As you journey further into Keswick, where you’re dropped off at your accommodation for the night, you’re free to explore the lively market and the charming town on your own.

Kickstart your day after breakfast and take in views of Ullswater Lake before heading along the country roads where the southern shores await. As you continue further south, witness the winding Kirkstone Pass that takes you to Lake Windermere. Enjoy a serene cruise on the lake or simply relax by the shore and enjoy lunch while admiring the sublime scenic views all around you.
After lunch, travel around the southern tip of Windermere and head towards Coniston Water. The next leg of the journey takes you to the picturesque conservation village of Hawkshead, where the poet William Wordsworth attended Grammar School.
Spend some time exploring the cosy village before making your way through narrow country lanes towards Grasmere, which the poet Wordsworth described as “the loveliest spot that man hath found”.
You may also choose to visit Wordsworth’s Dove Cottage or enjoy the serene and calm respite of the WordsworthDaffodil Garden by the River Rothy. In the late afternoon, you return to Keswick to spend the night.
